A SHOE IS BORN

U-Boat (T)imepiece

Every single U-Boat timepiece is individually handcrafted in Italy by master craftsmen, dedicated to the highest level of precision engineering and finishing, where care and attention to detail span the entire process, from the very first prototype to the final assembly of the watch.

THE HISTORY Lucca, 1942.

Ilvo Fontana, crafter of precision engineering instruments, received a prestigious commission from the Italian Navy: to design and build a new type of watch for their pilots. This challenge meant satisfying the high quality standards of the Navy and respecting very precise technical specifications, but above all guaranteeing maximum visibility and reliability in any light or weather condition. However, circumstance at that time did not allow the project to materialize. In 2000 Italo Fontana, Ilvo’s grandson, discovered these precious designs, which were to become his source of inspiration for the creation of the first U-Boat watch and his new dimension in time. U-Boat watches are characterized by their strong identity, large size, perfect legibility in all light and weather conditions, along with their bold and distinctive design: the left crown protected by a specially designed safety cover. Every individual U-Boat watch is handcrafted in Italy and each tiny detail is overseen by Italo Fontana.

VIM (B)EGET

Vim Beget jewelry is completely handmade. Starting with wire on a spool, spinning it into coils, and cutting it into separate rings. Each ring is hand-woven into a strand of chain. Pendant pieces are cut from German Silver sheet, hand-filed and soldered. What results is a piece that is unique and possesses the qualities that only the hand-made process can create.

Cracked leather mid top sneakers from Balenciaga with a lace-up front, metal eyelets and a black rubber sole. These black sneakers combine a sportswear aesthetic with a vintage finish to make an accomplished sartorial statement.

White Valentine is a brand of silver jewelery, all made in Italy. There projects are supported by the Italian company Livior, one of the most important worlwide distibutors of silver chains. WV infuses in its collections the know how of the italian tradition and the innovation of modern design.

As far as jewelry goes, this makes for a compelling design and with skull motifs always something appreciated it doesn’t get much better. You guys please take note of the details to the jaw connetion to the top of the next head simply amazing !!!

Concrete (R)ings

A collaborative project between Beat Poet and 22designstudio of Taiwan, these concrete rings are inspired by the architecture of Japanese architect Tadao Ando, whose work is characterised by simple geometry and an almost exclusive use of concrete with the formwork holes left intact. The concrete, imperfect and raw, ages gracefully in a wabi-sabi manner.

Common (P)roject

For those of you who live in a timeless universe, Common Projects is as good as it gets when it comes to being Perfect. Hand-stitched, number stamped, they are made in Italy using the finest leathers and materials. It’s like the Mercedes Benz of sneakers.

The Common Projects perfectly exemplifies the brand’s criteria, with the stylish rise, uniform colors and stitching, supple Nappa leather base and signature model number stamp. One look and it’s clear these sneakers are altogether seasonless, making the choice, at least this time around, an easy one for me.
